I’ll get straight to the point. Some CV writing Service reviews are a scam designed to send potential purchasers of a CV writing service traffic to a CV writing website through an affiliate link.

What is a CV writing Service affiliate link?

An affiliate link is a hyperlink coming from one website to another, directing traffic to the destination website in return for a commission when someone purchases an item through the destination website.

Much of the web traffic that ends up at a site where someone pays comes through affiliate links. There is nothing wrong with affiliate links. In fact, we run an affiliate programme ourselves; however we make 100% certain that no-one is being deceived in the process.

Real CV Writing Service Reviews?

Some of the major CV writing services in the UK get substantial sales from referring websites that are simply affiliates in disguise. For example, a simple Google search for “CV writing service reviews” will bring up several websites that are seemingly offering a genuine comparison service to people looking to purchase a CV writing service. The service and the websites are reviewed, often given a rating and the reader is given a seemingly helpful link to click directing them to the website of the service that they are recommending. That link is an affiliate link for the referring website.

I wouldn’t have an issue at all if the reviews were real and helpful but that is not always the case. In many cases, pride of place and star recommendations are not given to the best service. The best ratings are reserved for the sites which offer the affiliate the biggest commission. In many cases, commissions of around 30% are given to originating websites.

The end user doesn’t pay anything so that’s a good thing, right?

The answer to that is maybe! The price that a customer ends up paying has to take into account all costs including the cost of acquisition of that customer. The price (and therefore service) that a customer receives is largely dependent on the margin achieved by the selling company and can be a massive factor in affordability and value.

Fake CV Writing Service Reviews

There are people in the big bad world that will do nearly anything for cash. The web is now largely driven by reviews and we rely on the reviews of others when making a purchase much of the time. There are genuine review sites out there such as Trustpilot which provide purchasers with peace of mind when they are looking to buy something online. There are fake reviews on these sites as well as real ones. In fact, this practice was exposed only a couple of months ago in the international media.

If you look on websites such as https://fiverr.com and do a search for reviews or review service, there are many people willing to create a review of any product or service for a fee. Just be aware that there are fake reviews out there and have a proper read through. It’s often easy to spot fake reviews as they are generic and not specific. People who are genuinely happy with the service that they have received will sometimes write you a nice email or send you a text. It’s unusual to get genuine reviews that are completely glowing and very long.

Real CV writing service reviews

If a company is genuine and has been trading for a while, it’s probable that some of their customers will have been kind enough to thank them and maybe even leave a review. If you are looking for a service then do your homework. Call and speak with the person that will be writing your CV. If possible, arrange to meet in person and make your own mind up after speaking with the writer. There are fake and scam CV writing service reviews out there so decide wisely.
